Pakawaste Group, a leading provider of waste handling solutions based in Preston, Lancashire, is proud to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, David Hamer, has been honored with the esteemed title of Europe CEO of the Year 2024 by the SME500 UK – 2025 awards. This accolade recognizes Hamer’s exceptional leadership and the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence in the waste management industry.

A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

Established in 1976, Pakawaste Ltd has grown to become the UK’s market leader in waste handling equipment. The company offers an extensive range of products, including static and portable compactors, vertical and horizontal balers, transfer stations, and various specialist waste handling systems. Operating from its purpose-built facility in Preston, Pakawaste has consistently demonstrated its dedication to providing durable, reliable, and innovative waste management solutions.

David Hamer: Steering Pakawaste to New Heights

David Hamer’s journey with Pakawaste began in June 2006 when he joined as Sales & Marketing Director. His strategic vision and effective sales techniques quickly propelled the company to new heights, leading to his promotion to Managing Director in 2007. Under his leadership, Pakawaste not only solidified its position as a market leader in the UK but also embarked on a path of rapid and sustained expansion.

In July 2013, following the decision of company founder and then-group chairman John Hunt to step down, Hamer, with the support of American investors, led the acquisition of Pakawaste Ltd. This pivotal move marked the beginning of a new era for the company, with Hamer at the helm as Chief Executive Officer. His tenure has been characterized by a proactive approach to development and expansion, both domestically and internationally.

Global Expansion and Diversification

Under Hamer’s guidance, Pakawaste has extended its reach beyond the UK, establishing a presence in international markets such as India, the Middle East, and Hong Kong. These expansions have not only broadened the company’s global footprint but have also enhanced its understanding of international operations, reaffirming its status as a key player in the waste management equipment manufacturing sector.

In addition to its core operations, Pakawaste has diversified its services through the establishment of sister companies:

  • System Rental UK Ltd: Offers Pakawaste’s premier waste handling equipment on rental or hire purchase agreements, making high-quality waste management solutions accessible to a broader clientele.
  • Pakawaste Engineering Services: Provides unparalleled after-sales service, preventive maintenance, and responsive support through a network of strategically placed mobile service engineers across the UK.
  • Kelpack Hire Ltd: Specializes in equipment hire services, catering to various waste management needs.

Commitment to Quality and Customer Satisfaction

Pakawaste’s success is deeply rooted in its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The company prides itself on fulfilling every contractual requirement, often exceeding expectations from initial surveys through to product sales and after-sale maintenance. This customer-centric approach has been instrumental in building long-term relationships and securing high-value contracts across various sectors, including food processing, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and education.
